Thanks to Permaculture Designer Pam Lister for recommending this program.
Beth Grant will be presenting Dr. Doug Tallamy's slideshow on his book Bringing Nature Home: How You Can Sustain
Wildlife with Native Plants. She will be presenting this program at Birdsong
Nature Center Sunday, July 14 at 2 PM, and Saturday, August 10 at 10 AM.
Handouts will be provided. Copies of Bringing Nature Home and Dr.Gil
Nelson’s Best Native Plants for Southern Gardens will be available for purchase
with all proceeds going to Birdsong. Birdsong has agreed to forgo their
usual charge for programs. Please call 229 377 4408 to reserve a seat - the
room holds 20.
Dr. Tallamy explains how everyone who loves the wonders of the natural world
can contribute to the survival of our native birds, butterflies, and other
treasures by providing the native plants needed to support them. Exotics
do not feed the food web and invasive exotics crowd out the natives that
do. By acting on Dr. Tallamy’s practical recommendations, you can
make a difference for bio-diversity while you enjoy the fascinating
wildlife that you are supporting. There is no better way to involve children
in nature than by bringing it to your yard.
If you are part of a garden club, master gardeners group, church, scout
or other group that might be interested in this program, please let her know or
forward her email address to the program chair.
